Itinerary description
Challenging hike with some testing climbs, which does involve scrambling on all fours in parts. We did this hike in November and there was plenty of water in both rivers, which made for more dramatic scenery. Would recommend taking a 2nd pair of shoes for the sections that you are in the river. Trainers would be ideal, as they are lightweight and if you are changing shoes, then when wet, they will not be to heavy in your day sack. You will leave the Rio Chillar and climb quite steeply up and over towards Frigiliana. This is where you will want to change out if your wet shoes. When you get over the top and are descending down the Rio Higuerón (wet shoes back on), parallel with Frigiliana, keep your eyes peeled for the pathway off to the left. This path will circumnavigate an otherwise impassable section of the river. Steps have been installed, which will become obvious when you take the path. Enjoy
