Itinerary description
This is an Auvergne quintaessential hike, you can admire beautiful prairies called "estives", where cows can pass the summer at altitude grazing peacefully with the majestic Puy de Sancy at 1885m of altitude as a beautiful background. From the centric square Place de la Poste in Neuveglise D'Entraigues you just have to follow the very well signalled green path, except for a small deviation to visit Cascade du Bois de Chaux. The two cascades in the trail are very close to each other, the green path passes by Cascade D'Entraigues, the other one can be found just going down the road from the lake. It took us 4 hours for 13km with stops for lunch and sightseeing.
You can admire different kinds of cows from Auvergne, milk and meat cows like the brown, hairy and horny Salers cow, veals, bullocks, bulls, horses, royal kites typical in the auvergne skies as well as kestrels.
