The Skala towers 1848m above sea level. The annual Skala Uphill will take place here in mid-August. It is the heaviest mountain range in northern Europe due to the difference in height, 1818 meters between start and finish, while the total distance is only 8.2 km. The average increase is 22.5 percent! The race starts at Tjugen, 29 meters above sea level.
At the top is the Skalatarnet, built in 1891. The tower was intended as a restoration facility for people with tuberculosis. Since October 2016, the new tourist hut Skalabu is also in use. It is possible to spend the night here in both the tower and the new Skalabu hut.
A spectacular walk with breathtaking views of fjords, mountains and glaciers.
