Those who are interested in the Nordkalottleden should have done their homework and already know how to assess this wilderness trail.
In fine weather and hopefully little mosquitoes, this sometimes quite rough route is simply terrific. In bad weather and blizzard, it is very fast very nasty and in case of injury at exposed point sometimes life-threatening. The route is therefore not really recommended for the beginner.
Solowanderer should be noted that there is virtually no mobile reception on the entire route. Since the chances are quite good even for days to meet anyone, it is important to consider this circumstance. In Norway and Finland there are no emergency telephones available in Hütten.
Carrying a PLB or SPOT 2 can provide some extra security here.
But through realistic self-assessment, physical fitness, good planning and some experience you are probably best prepared to enjoy the way.
Unfortunately, when I downloaded the GPS track of a certain author (yellow book) during the preparation, I had to realize that it is partly incomplete. And although he propagated the track in his trail guide as a special feature.
My version is complete in terms of distance and without major blunders.
A GPS track is not really necessary on the Nordkalottleden for orientation, but I was glad when I was able to fall back to it on slippery blocks of land during sleet and cloud fog.
I have drawn my sleeping places and mostly also huts where I walked past. At the campsites are, except at campground 1, 8 u. 9, cabins in the immediate vicinity.

Beautiful trace!
You‘re welcome, guys! Have fun!
Hallo.
@bucxxx
Hallo. Ich habe noch eine Frage. Wo kann man unterwegs Lebensmittel kaufen? Welche Bestände sollte ich haben?
@bucxxx

@bucxxx
Gaskartuschen gibts an der Tanke in Kautokeino. Die Karten würde ich vorab besorgen. Z.B. beim Landkartenhaus.
@bucxxx
Ich habe für die Strecke 17 Tage benötigt. Was sehr schnell ist.
Thank you. Were there any difficult stream crossings?
Hey, mtncanyon!
No, nothing really dangerous, exept a few really shaky bridges.
But this all is subject to change out there in the wilderness.
Take care and have fun!
This is the most comprehensive GPS track with sleeping marks I have came across. This will help me immensely planning my stages. Thanks a lot!!
Hey, Mariel!
It’s my pleasure. I did the best I could! ;)
Take care and have fun! It‘s a great hike.
Wish you luck with the weather!
