Itinerary description
This was a 15-day, 119-mile backpack from the North Lake trailhead in Inyo NF, over Piute Pass, down Piute Creek to the JMT, south along S. Fork San Joaquin River, up Evolution Valley and Evolution Basin, over Muir Pass, down LeConte Canyon, up to Bishop Pass for resupply, back to JMT, up Palisade Creek and Golden Staircase, over Mather Pass, down S. Fork Kings River, over Pinchot Pass, down Woods Creek, up to Rae Lakes for 2 nights with dayhike to Sixty Lakes Basin, over Glenn Pass and Kearsarge Pass to Onion Valley trailhead. Excellent weather, with just a couple of rain showers. No mosquitoes, no snow on trail.
