Itinerary description

You start at the train station of Lonsdal, and you stop at the next one at Rockland, both on the line from Trondheim to Bodo, two trains a day :-)
There is nothing at Lonsdal, but the station of Rockland has a supermarket and a petrol station with a shop.

There is no food on this trip, so you'll have to carry enough. The cabins you will encounter are well equipped with wood, gas and utensils (bring a DNT key). So you can hike with only food and a liner/sleeping bag. Most routes are well marked, but there are some bad spots where the markings have disappeared, mostly in the woodlands, but you can't really go wrong.

If you go during spring, early summer there will be a lot of water, extra swampy areas and some creeks will be hard to cross, but nothing that can't be handled with some basic common sense. There are no real dangers, except for the weather.

Keep in mind that for a big part of this track there is no cell reception, and limited access to electricity, check the cabin descriptions on http://ut.no to get the details.

It's a real nice area to walk in, big variations in the landscape and nature, and wide open spaces, with little other visitors, and the occasional herd of reindeers.
You can easily shorten the trip in various ways, either proceed to Glomfjord or Storjord where you can take a bus.
