Itinerary description
Fabulous trail. The climb from the Buddhist retreat towards the watchtower is challenging. From the watchtower great views towards the famous 3 white villages of Pampaniera, Bubión & Capiliera & above the Sierra Nevada Mountains.
The trail along the acequia is very scenic. It can be rather narrow & slippery, it requires a steady foot & good balance at times. There is one part where there are some ropes to help you climb up & could be challenging for some people. After the acequia the trail goes through some nice forest & heads down back to the start of the trail.
Note: This trail has some steep climbs and descents & involved some scrambling along the route.
What is an Acequia?
Acequia (ah-theh-kyah) - irrigation channels. Began by the Romans & perfected by the Arabs & continue to sustain local farmers today.
Hike start point near to Soportújar - Cañar
