Itinerary description

Another beautiful hike in the area of Baixo Miño and in particular the Ruta Maxica De Oia! This normally would be a linear trail but since the weather was good and I was able, I returned back to my car, walking by the sea to Oia and back up to the Mirador. There are a few places to begin this trail. I began my trail up at the Mirador Da Pedreira. There is some space to leave the car there. The trail would be considered moderate. Not many steep ascents or descents which makes it manageable. We pass many points of interests, which are marked and signposted very well. The only thing I found hard at times was the signposting for the route itself. At some points I got lost and had to use GPS to redirect myself back onto the trail. So be cautious. I am aware there is a smaller loop trail going back down to Oia. For me that caused a bit of confusion. The views are quite spectacular it has to be said. Overlooking Oia and beyond that the Atlantic Ocean. Then we descent from the mountain and we join the road and walk beside the sea. This is actually part of the Camino Portuguese Coastal Route. So we walk backwards and meet many pilgrims along the way! There are places to stop and have something to snack on or have a drink. We then start the only steep ascent of the trail, which is going back up to the Mirador Da Pedreira, to finish our hike. Around 27KM in total. Great hike on a nice sunny day. I probably would not recommend it if it’s overcast or raining, as you won’t get to see all the nice views! Happy hiking!
