Itinerary description
This little town between Antwerp en Gent is really worthy of a visit !
Despite heavy destructions during WWI, the city has been rather nicely rebuilt (except the horrible Oude Vest...) and displays some historical buildings !
Beyond the visit of its city center, Dendermonde is also a good starting point to discover the beautiful SCHELDE VALLEY, especially by bike (Escaut in french).
My advise : rent a bike (like the BlueBikes at the train station) and follow the cyclepath along the Scheld untill Baasrode. At pier near the church of Baasrode , take the 'veerboot' to the other side (free) and go back to Dendermonde via the other side of the river !
