Itinerary description
A walk to Olsskavlen, the highest mountain in Granvin municipality. 6-7 hours t / r.
Start by Liasete by Espelandsvatnet on Ulvikahøgde. If you come from Granvinsvatnet, lieve Liasete by a cultivated field on left side just before you come to Espelandsvatnet. Park here and walk the county forest road up the hillside. After 1, 5 km you pass to Olastøl, several small farmhouses. Here you will face eastward. Before you reach the eastern farmhouses you'll pass a stream. Here turn right uphill along this. It is rather steep here and you come up to cottage Olavsbu which is situated under the Stavaskarsnuten. The small cottage is open for a rest. From Olavsbu you follow small cairns. The first part is flat, but then there will be steeper towards the top.
Wiew up here is great. A look Ulvikafjorden with the caracteristic Vassfjøra and Hardangerjøkulen as famous landmark. In the south you see Granvinfjord, an other small fjord as a part of the Hardangerfjord. Use good hikingshoes.
Return the same way.
