Itinerary description
It's a long hike with lots of things to see: Ornans - Grotte de Chauveroche - Cascade de Bonneille - Chassange-Saint-Denis - Château Saint-Denis - Ornans
Starting at the camp ground in Ornans, you walk to the east, until you reach a roundabout. Here you take a right and follow the road until the asphalt stops. A forest road takes you furhter south-south-east and after a while you will see a sign pointing to the Grotte de Chauveroche (on your right side). If you like, you follow the trail to the entrance of the cave and come back to this same point afterwards.
The path continues along a small river to the Saut de Bonneille (cascade). Stairs lead up and as soon as you reach te highest point, you take a sharp right and follow the path to a road. You'll have to follow it a few hundred meters north, than take a left, into the woods again. If you got it right, the road will take you to Chassange-Saint-Denis.
The next bit is easy: just follow the signs to Château de Saint Denis and enjoy the ruins and beautiful views over the Loue valley. At the western part of the Château you will find a path leading down to the Loue, where you take a turn to the right. Just follow this route along the river, maybe take a small side step to see the Blocs Erratique (some stray rocks in the woods) and you will reach Ornans without any problems.
