Itinerary description
This hike, organised by the Mijas Tourism Office, and lead by our guides Rosa and Jose Manuel, started from the Mijas Sports Centre. We started waking up to the Road to Benalmadena, which we crossed, and immediately began climbing a stony pathway until we came to a more pleasant route on southern slope of La Osunilla mountain. A nice route, with beautiful views, trees, bushes and lovely flora, but it is necessary to be careful crossing some places with loose stones. It is not dangerous, but walk with care. We arrived at the Viewing Point, which has spectacular views, and where we rested awhile. Then we retraced our path a little until we reached the fork where we took the path which lead us down to join the Benalmadena Road again. This first part of the route is very nice, and easy for walking with care. There are climbs but not too steep. We crossed the road, and the guides brought us to see the ruins of an old typical house, with stables, baking ovens, water tanks, and gardens. From there we again retraced our steps to see some mines that are now in disuse, and then to the Hermitage of San Anton, from where we returned to our starting point, the Sports Centre. The second part ot fhe walk is not very interesting. In total we walked just less than 10km.
