Combined route, walking and paddling, through the Highlands, during the 3rd week of May. Departing from Morar, on the West coast and arriving in Perth, on the East coast.
Although it is possible to complete the entire route, we took the train from Glenfinnan to Rannoch Station, a 2-hour journey, approximately 80 km, to be able to finish in a week because we had no more free days.
For this route we have used a type of inflatable boat, called a packraft, between 2 and 3 kg, which you can carry in your backpack and is also resistant enough to descend class III rapids.
We have also taken a sail that made it easier for us to cross the lakes more quickly, a Windpaddle.
IT IS IMPORTANT to point out that on the route you can find steps with RAPIDS OF CLASS V, Tummel River.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7TVB8k4EnDM.

From Rannoch Station to Perth you can do the route by canoe or kayak without having to carry large portages, depending on your experience you will have to carry the rapids you encounter, it is easy to predict when you are approaching one due to the sound or the change in altitude, most class II and class III. If you avoid these rapids the technical difficulty is moderate.
Incorporating the packraft into your trips allows you to cover greater distances, go into more isolated areas and make the route more enjoyable. We have created a blog about packraft with the intention of making this type of boat known to fellow Spanish-speaking travelers, it is still under construction but we hope it will be up and running in less than a month.
