Itinerary description
The ever popular Panorama circuit in Jonkershoek done in reverse with a detour to the summit of Guardian Peak or Sterrekykerskop. This is one of the most scenic trails around with vistas starting as soon as one parks and sets out. In reverse the descent gradient is more gradual making it easier on the knees. The path starts off gradual and passes the turn to first and second Waterfall before winding up the infamous kurktrekkernek and reaching the col. Thereafter we followed a short section of the Swartboskloof trail to be able to scale Guardian peak, a note on this the trail is very faint and one might be required to do some wild hiking, be careful of plants and tread where others have been before or on rocks. The trail then doubles back and past the four trail intersection and up Panorama route to the platuea before descending to the Bergrivier lookout point and back to the parking area. This is a long day out with substantial elevation gain so be prepared. Wind can be strong and the sun can be potent on hot days. There are a few water stops along the route with top quality mountain water for refill. Interesting plant species and the veld is recovering nicely since the last fires. This is a good trail if you're after views, they change along every section with Vistas all the way to Table Mountain, Cape Point and Constantiaberg. Not to be taken lightly but absolutely worth it.

Always a nice trail, good breaks between steep sections. Expect a long day out. Loads of good picnic spots with awesome views. Remember sunscreen and a windbreaker.
Very nice hike with some steep climbs, but the view from the top of the mountain is tops! Fresh clean water was available in the streams, a welcome refreshment on a hot day. Bring a hat and sunscreen and enjoy a stunning day out.
