Itinerary description

Trail in 2020:

First I did try shortest Northen route at the middle I found a big rock and I couldn't get over I found it too risky with my 40-50 pounds back pack and camera gears.. was impossible to make it done safely. So I did choice after this route , this is still shorter than Eagle's Nest Trail. Most of the trail just fine, if we not count high elevation , it is okay. No marks just at the end , but with Wikiloc also okay. Right below the peak getting to very difficult, very unsafe slope with small rolling stones, makes it to difficult. If you are happy to not get the peak until that this trail rate max difficult , due hard walk to always up.

Trail mostly exposed, so at summer try to choice a day when sky is overcast-ed. Bring tons of water, perfect hiking boots and poles all will need. Internet sometimes works, mostly not count it use offline maps. Bush slowly take over upper parts of the road, long trousers are better choice than short even if hot. I think at winter can be very windy and last half mile will be very dangerous in high wind. In summer you need only fight with heat, big umbrella is a helpful tool at summer and winter as well. Final word this route is tough and not many people make it, so basically you will see nobody and enjoy the nature. At upper parts may you can meet with a viper so watch each of your steps up there. I meet with one and she just enjoy the sun and not care about noise what I made, if I not watch my steps carefully may I step on her and ending my hike with dead.. Don't worry much about vipers I saw only three of them under the years, but count them carefully if you visit remote places like this peak.

Papoutsa or Mount Papoutsa (Παπούτσα in Greek) is one of the standalone mountains on the outskirts of the big Troodos Range on the island of Cyprus. Compared to most other mountains on the island, it is a rare thing: a mountain without a construction on top - no radar installation, no fire lookout, not even a radio antenna. The only things you will find is a small sanctuary and a summit cross, both of rather modest proportions.

I hiked the trail with my two sons, 9 and 5. Very nice trail, climbing uphill all the way to the top, and downhill on the return back. Total time up and down 2hrs 54mins including a small stop at the top to build a very small rock cairn and take some photos. Will repeat the trail, this time bringing along the mom.
