Itinerary description
This is a beautiful walk around the countryside of the Alto Genal, especially lovely in mid-late November when the trees display their autumn colours. The area is known as the "Bosque de Cobre" (Copper Forest) and this route also takes in the "Bosque Encantado" - or Enchanted Forest - initiated by the Ayuntamiento de Parauta - which has a range of fairies, toadstools, mythical creatures and cleverly carved trees by local craftsmen. There is a fair amount of climbing - over 450m - but the views are well worth the effort. Most of the route is easy to follow apart from the section near the first river bed, see notes below.

Old mill - see important notes below
From the old mill follow the river path until you meet the concrete track which goes uphill to Cartajima. At this point DO NOT follow the concrete track, instead go along the rocky river bed for a couple of minutes and look for a small path on the left, which winds uphill and becomes wider and more established.
