Itinerary description

To get to the starting point of this walk you either have to walk a long way or take the jeep/ bus taxi as we did from the village of Boí. This ride will take you from 1300 to 1800 metres and gives you the opportunity to start a walk as long as you want to make it in one of the most beautiful parts that the aerth has to offer you, without having to walk all those hundreds of metres upwards.

This is a wonderful and easy walk and although hundreds of people probably do this walk every day, the natural surroundings are of such outstanding beauty and immensity that all these people simply disappear from your vision and consciousness.

What we did is probably one of the classic walks in this National Park (Planes Aiguestortes). The track leads you gently uphill for most of the time from 1800 to 2000 metres, to a majestic lake, Estany Long.

This is a walk of 5 kilometres and you are going to see everything of nature that makes life worth living. After passing the mountain hut it is only a short way to the lake.

Here you can sit and look around you for hours and enjoy the great views or you can go further, for instance to another, smaller lake at 2100 metres, Lake Redó.

The walk back is along the same path but with completely different views of course.

Almost 2 kilometres before you get back to the starting point there is a path, especially for people who are not steady on their feet or in any other way incapacitated to make a long walk, that leads you through some magnificent water, grass, and rock land. At the end of that there is also a signpost to a Mirador (Panorama) which has a great view into the valley towards the Estany de Llebreta and the Riu Sant Nicolau.
