Itinerary description
The route across Parque Geres in north Portugal.
The route starts from old border of Portugal and Spain inside the national park, where we could park the car. First part (until 13th km) is very badly marked! We had poor weather conditions, with lots of fog, that made the hike very difficult. We have followed GPS almost completly blind. The area was burned in many places with recent fires :-/ At 13th km, we reached the abandoned village of Vilarinho da Furna (destroyed and sunk after construction of the dam), where the weather got much better and finally we could enjoy the views! From this point, the path goes along the lake until the dam and later continues by the lake. After the dam, the path enters amazing dense forest with narrow path full of green and moisture! The landscape like from Lord of the Rings :-P Last 2.5km is done along the asphaltus road, back to the car.
The hike is long but without any difficulties (level moderate just for the distance). Offers impresive views of the mountains, lake, sunk village, the dam and the forest! It took us 8h to walk all distance with moderate tempo (no rushing, lots of stops for photos and rest).

Un recorrido muy bonito que hice parcialmente en MTB. Puede que aproveche el track para una próxima salida. Saludos.
