Itinerary description
Nice trail to Peña Careses in the center of Asturias. Beautiful views from the top and the Asturias Cross, will be waiting for you. Steady steep is recommended for the last part of the trail.

DESCRIPTION
The trail begins in Careses town. It is hard to park the car due to the lack of public space. We asked the neighbours for a spot for 2-3 hours.
The first couple of km we walked in the road, after what we reached the entrance of the cave. We didn't go inside, bc we didn't bring light with us. From the entrance of the cave, there is a small trail in the right side that goes to the top of the mountain. It is steep, narrow and between the forest. A little bit slippery at points because of humidity. The last 500m to the summit the trail is more rocky and unsteady.
In the top the Asturias cross waited for us, with great views in all directions. Ocean and Gijon in the North. Peña Mayor, Peña Mea, Ubiñas in the South. Sierra del Sueve, Picos de Europa in the East. Oviedo, Sierra del Aramo, Pico del Sol in the West.
To go back to the car we used the road to make a round tour. Not my favourite. To the best of my knowledge, there is not other way down while making it round and using trail. The second half of the way down goes through a path, no concrete.

Edit: you may have forgotten it. I did it yesterday with my partner, and it actually crossed two tunnels, one of which was blocked making it impossible to continue. We were forced to go back and take a different route. Check my account if you want, I have put a photo of the exact place along with the track date from our route yesterday.
Thanks for the information. I compared both routes and it seems like at the point of the tunnel that you are referring to, which we never entered, you stopped following my route uploaded here, which goes to the right of the tunnel and instead you went left and then turned around. As mentioned in the description of the route, we saw the tunnel but didn’t go through it. Instead we took a small path to the right of it. I remember this path was hard to find so maybe that’s why you didn’t see it. This is good to know for other people trying to do this route, so thank you for making everyone aware of this difficulty ☺️.
We didn't see any alternative to the right of the tunnel and the Wikiloc track seemed to match the tunnel. We tried with one path to the left of the tunnel, but after a few meters walking we realized it diverted too much from the original course, so we went back.
