Itinerary description
Day 2 of a 2-day hike from figueirinha to Sesimbra.
Some amazing views and a definite challenge for one day, because:
1. The climb to Formosinho is steep and slippery
2. Much of the route around Serra do Risco is very overgrown. Like fighting through prickly jungle - slow going.
For these two reasons I class the route as very difficult. The rest is much easier.
I recommend:
A. Wear decent trousers for the jungle like sections
B. Don’t do it in bad weather or poor visibility. Some of the paths go right to the cliff edge.
C. If you try it in reverse the firmosinho descent would be very difficult.
D. Wear hiking shoes. I did it in trainers but it was tough and worryingly slippery in places.
