Itinerary description
Pico Aneto from Refugio La Renclusa.
Started at 0530 from Refuge after a basic breakfast.
First 70 minutes in the dark with head torch.
This is a direct approach only possible in great weather after a long summer.
Glacier had retreated to the point you did not need crampons. Probably 20m of snow only.
Technically simple apart from a gully scramble and a very exposed scramble on Pass of Mohammed.
On the Paso de Mahoma it is very exposed and you do require some technical ability. As from England would suggest Sharp Edge and Striding Edge as comparisons and training.
Because it was after a long hot summer there was some rockfall ongoing and so would also recommend a helmet for insurance.
It’s a long day ……… but it’s the highest point in the Pyrenees and worth it.

Summer trail. Very little snow crossing (20metres at top of glacier). Lots of rock fall - recommend a helmet
