Itinerary description
The trail starts at pico do Arieiro and follows the famous PR1 to Pico Ruivo. Later, it carries on for a short time down the Vereda da Encumeada to later turn to a hard to spot, very narrow path called Lombo Dos Portais. The descent is strenous, and the difference in altitude is over 1000m. The path crosses through creeks, and large boulders with carved in steps. Although challenging, the views of the Nuns Valley are increadible.
