Itinerary description

La Mairena

Recommended by a colleague from Wikiloc, we decided to explore part of the Ojen - Mairena route that runs along part 32 of the GR-249. We had problems finding the Urb. Mairena, but in the end we arrived and parked the car under a tree on the track.
The route is a forest track, which crosses a forest of pines and cork trees and holm oaks. We passed by Juan Diaz and Los Linarejos where we continued to the right, descending to the River Ojen. We passed by ruins of Mills. Here we lost the path and had to make our own way until we reached the route marked on Wikiloc again. After passing through a village or a group of houses, we started our ascent, passing the abandoned mines of Talco and Mica. A little further on, we entered another large forest of cork and holm oaks, where we joined the route that took us back to Urbanization - La Mairena.
It is a route without difficulty (except where we lost the route), and in some parts there are beautiful views including the Costa del Sol and Morocco. Very recommendable. You really need a car to get to this route.

At a certain point next to the ruinas the walking path is completely blocked and you have to go back to the starting point or continue direction Ojén.

We did manage our way through and alongside the pinchy bushes, passed several gates that said 'prohibido pasar', but it was quite adventourous and hardly doable.
