Itinerary description
Starting out at El Camping Balcon de Pitres, there is a camino real above the campsite which brings you into the town (if you turn right!) of Pitres. From there we hiked up to Caperilla & then we made the mistake of crossing over private land so, I deleted the 1st part of the walk!
Kindly we were helped back onto the track & continued uphill to follow an acequia to where we met an Acequia Gorda. Keeping left, & below the acequia, we followed this slowly downhill & past the ruins of an old molino.
Crossing over the acequia & uphill, we made a couple of attempts to go over the top of the mountain in our way but, eventually we had to go around!
On forest tracks, & keeping to the right at junctions, we finally came out onto the main road above Capileira.
Stopped for lunch at the wonderful Coral de Castańos in the plaza at Capileira ( the food here is exceptional) we continued on out hike downhill to Bubión.
As you pass through the town ( along the main road) keep left & up to the Ermita.
This part of the hike is particularly enjoyable with a great views towards Capileira & Bubión & above Pampaneira.
The path eventually rises up to meet a forestry track, keep right & follow this for 15 or 20 minutes.
Turn right & left along the camino real bringing you back to the campsite.
