Pizarra – Castillejos de Quintana
This walk starts from the outskirts of Pizarra and heads towards the recreational area Raja Ancha, which has BBQ’s and picnic tables.
Walking up through the eucalyptus woods you come to Raja Ancha (where the recreational area gets its name from) which is a narrow gap between two large rocks with steps which takes you up to a Mirador at the top.
From here you head up to the Cueva Oscura (dark cave), and then onto a wide gravel road. Continue on this until you get to a dirt track.
To get to the archaeological site you will see some large stone pillars. Follow these and it will lead you to the site.
The site is fenced off at the moment due to ongoing excavations.
I can see it being opened to the public at some stage. From here you go to the El Santo statute, with panoramic views of the Guadalhorce valley.
From El Santo take the path on your right that goes downhill which will take you back to the picnic area and parking.
