Itinerary description
This hike starts from the marina in Lejas and goes up through the streets of the town to the countryside roads that lead to the trail head. The roads go past beautifully kept homes and gardens. The country roads are quiet with beautiful vistas of the pastures, ocean and mountains. The trail to the beach is steep and spectacular. Hand laid stone steps are found on the steep sections. At the bottom of the trail, just before the beach, a trail leads off to the right for a walk past the old pastures and stone walls. Return along the beach. But be careful as many of the rounded boulders are unstable to walk on. The hike back up is strenuous but rewarding. Try to sit on one of the steps to just take time to enjoy the views and song birds while you catch your breathe. This trail returns to Lejas but stops at the Port Vello cafe restaurant. A great place for a cool refreshment or dinner overlooking the ocean with free WiFi.
