Itinerary description
CORRECTION: total elevation will be closer to 1500 meters.
Start your walk at the top of Pico do Areeiro (1810m) early in the morning. You will catch the sunrise, will avoid the big crowds and be back just after noon with a big part of the day ahead of you. This plan worked fine for us! We loved the walk and scenery very, very much but don’t underestimate it, it’s quite tough!
In the morning we had beautiful light because of the sunrise, on our way back the clouds started rolling in which provided a whole other spectacle!
Must hike when visiting Madeira!!!
