I’m not sure why they state 4 hours though as it’s only one hour up and another back. I walked another 30 mins along the ridge and back after stopping for lunch.
On the way back I walked in the road at the fork. It’s not tarmac but shouldn’t be a problem for most cars if you want to drive up and start a little higher up. I’d recommend that if you’re planning a longer walk e.g. to roque de los muchachos
It’s a bit of an incline up to Pico de la Nieve but with decent trails. Once you there it’s pretty easy going along the ridge.
