Itinerary description
Classic route of the valley of Ordesa - Faja the las Flores (Day 1 of 2).
Probably one of the most spectacular routes of Pyrenees! Offers stunning views of the valley and higher mountains. The start from parking area Pradera, accessible by bus from Torla (during the high season) or by car (after high season - usualy after mid September). The path first goes a little to the west, by the road, to start slow descent to the north. First part is in the forest. After about 4km, the path reaches famous "clavijas de carriata" - metal "steps" pernamently attached between the rocks to enable the climb. This section is very difficult and requires both legs and hands for the climb! After passing this "steps", from 6th km and for next 4km, the famous "faja de las flores" starts! The path goes along 90 degrees steep slopes, just next to the edge (see photos). The views to the valley are breathtaking! The later part of the route enters flat area between the peaks (including Monte Perdido) and the valley, until the refuge "Goriz" - one of the most famous and occupied refuge in Spain! Booking has to be done weeks in advance, so most of the people camp in tents just outside of it - as I did too :-D. End of Day1 - tomorrow Monte Pedrido...
Level moderate to high (just the "clavijas"). Views - amazing!!!
