Itinerary description

I made this trip starting from B&B Tempa del fico after staying over night there. The first part of the way follows the Mezzana valley and is easy to find although it is not always visible. The deviation to the spring was for getting water and not having to carry it all from the beginning. The direct path gets better visible here and turns into a track. At Croce della Mezzana we started offroad directly towards the summit. The way above the timberline is not difficult to find and very easy to walk. Unfortunately the summit was covered with clouds but even from the slopes there were nice views. We however took the way across the summit because other options seemed to involve more difficult terrain. Descending from the summit we reached a little mountain pass which recently has been equipped with guideposts from "Cammino delle due Primule". We followed this marked trail only for a few metres and turned right downward on an unsigned path wich ended at a crossing path. A few steps offroad brought us to a beautiful meadow area with a cattle watering tank. A quite comfortable dirt road lead into the forest again. At waypoint 7 we had to leave this and to reach another dirt road further down. The area is quite confusing and the paths barely visible. We lost the path but fortunately the terrain was not difficult nor dangerous and GPS brought us back on track quickly to visit the wonderful place of Affondatore di Vallivona. It involves wading through a tunnel carrying water. At its end you find yourself withing a huge hole with cliffs all around. A few metres reverse a guidepost shows our destination Ponte Inferno but after two serpentines the path got slippery and quite steep, than hard to follow. At waypoint 8 I cannot completely remember its course and GPS signal was bad way down inside the canyon. After the waterfall of Varco la Peta the path gets better and turns into a track giving easy way to the destination where we had ordered a taxi (Erranti company from Palinuro). During the entire way we did not meet any other person.
