PUERTA VERDE (LAKE CONCEPCIÓN)

Itinerary:
This walk has fabulous views and is an easy one, though about 9 km long with only a few, quite gentle hills. The route is along dirt tracks as well as narrow paths through beautiful vegetation and passes old cork oaks trees. There are occasional stops to take in the wonderful views over Lake Concepción towards Istán and La Concha mountain. The turning point for the return is at a rustic goat breeding farm where there may be baby goats.

Directions to the Meeting Place
From Inland or Marbella (Either the A7 or the N340)
Take the first exit to Puerto Banus. Keep to the right at the roundabout (La Alzambra Vasari/ Iceland), take the first exit. See ‘All Traffic’ below.
From Estepona (ViaN340)
Take the ‘Istán’ exit immediately after El Corte Inglés. Drive around the roundabout (with the rhino) and then take the 4th exit under the bridge. Continue through two roundabouts until La Alzambra Vasari/Iceland on the left. See ‘All Traffic’ below.
All Traffic
Continue on this road through 4 more roundabouts. Go past La Dama de Noche and Los Naranjos de Marbella on the right. At the 4th roundabout, take the exit going uphill. It is signposted Aloha Golf Club. Aloha College is on the left. The meeting place is the Aloha College car park about 100 metres further on the right at the Colegio. From the meeting place there is a convoy to the start of the walk.
The Convoy journey (in case of losing contact)
Turn right out of Aloha college car park. Follow the road, keeping golf course on left, through one or two sharp bends. At the next roundabout turn right. Drive under a bridge, then up to a junction. Bear right at a sign “La Colina”. Continue up the road for some way until another roundabout and take the 2nd exit into a rough ground car park. This is the start of the walk.
