Puerto de los Pescadores – Arroyo del Tejar – Fuente del Acebuche
This walk starts from the off road parking, a stone’s throw from the Alhaurin BP petrol station opposite the Mijas 10Km sign.
Take the gravel road until you reach the arroyo del Tejar (about half an hour), then turn right into the arroyo. This is a pleasant climb of approximately 350m.
Just before you approach some large rocks you take a hidden path on your left (which I initially missed by about 20m).
Eventually this trail comes out at another gravel road, taking the path that goes downhill.
Eventually you take a detour to the casa Forestal which then leads to the Fuente del Acebuche.
From here you take another hidden trail which brings you onto Ruta Marron (The brown route) which leads all the way back to the start.
It wasn’t a hard walk but it was long at nearly 16Km.
There was about 70% shade (I started around 9am).
There are some amazing views of the Guadalhorce valley and it was very peaceful on the northern side of the Sierra de Mijas.
At the end of the day it was a very good hike.
