Puerto de los Pescadores – La Bola (Circuit)
Of all the different routes to ‘La Bola’ (Pico Mijas) this must surely be the nicest in my opinion.
It’s a circular walk starting from the off road parking near the BP petrol station on the outskirts of Alhaurin el Grande.
It uses the Camino del Conde which then picks up a hidden trail on the north side of the Sierra.
This is a medium to hard walk because you are going uphill a lot of the way to la Bola which takes just under 3 hours to get to the summit. And the whole circuit takes 5 ¾ hours more or less.
Coming down from la Bola you use part of the orange route (Sendero Pico Mijas) until you reach the Pista Sur. From here follow it down just before you get to the A 387 and take the path sharp right by an electric pylon. This path meanders parallel with the road and takes you back to the parking area.
This is a brilliant hike with great panoramic views from both sides of the mountain.
La Ventilla restaurant by the BP is a good place to recharge your batteries, which is what I did.
