Itinerary description
We started this walk in Puerto de Mazarrón but one could easily start this walk in Las Balsicas where there is enough parking space at the beginning of the gully into the Sierra de Agarrobo. You then would have to take some different tracks to get back to your starting point but there are quite a few possibilities to do so.
If you come from Puerto de Mazarrón and walk through the open fields you will have the sense to enter a completely different world when you enter the Sierra de Agarrobo. The first part stays quite level and will be very hot on a sunny summer day but in March it is quite pleasant to walk there.
Gradually the track gets to higher ground once you start to follow a track to the right. There are some amazing caves along this track, also much higher up on the hilltops.
When we arrived at a col at a heighth 280 metres we saw a narrower track you could follow back to Las Balsicas, turning to the right, but we continued to follow the broad track until the first track to the right that goes down. From the col you have good views on the Penas Blancas and the hilltops above La Azohia and of course the sea.
You will descend to 180 metres where you turn to the left and a couple of hundred metres later to the right walking up again to 200 metres. Then you descend into the valley of Los Molares. Getting out of this valley we followed at random some tracks thta took us back to the beginning.
