Itinerary description

Qemmamine is a small village beautifully located in Donniyeh valleys. It is part of the Lebanon mountain trail (LMT). We spent the night at one of the guesthouses and we started our trek at 6 am. It is very important to start early in summer especially if you starting with Wadi Jhannam ascent. Unlike its name, it's a real piece of heaven. Sceneries are amazing all around. After a long sternuous climb of around 800 m, we reached "Jurd Mrebbine" then "Jurd Qabeeit". You can have a beautiful view of "Qornet el Achra". We had our lunch at a local restaurant before continuing our way towards "Jurd Beit Younes". The walk was long and the temperature over 35 deg. The trek continued to "Jurd Beit Ayoub" under Ourouba summit, the highest point in Akkar mountains. Many springs are on the way but the heat was exhausting. We spent the night at 2000 m "à la belle étoile" and had an amazing sunset. The second day started early with Ourouba ascent. The walk on the ridge is not to be missed. To go back to Qemmamine, we took the trail to Jurd Mechmech and then continued on LMT section 2 (Tacheh- Qemmamine) reaching our starting point via "Wadi Haql el Kherbi". The last part of this LMT part in the forest has to be blazed. The trail is not well maintained and you can go in the wrong direction at many points. Don't forget to have a break at the river before reaching Qemmamine. At many parts of this trek, there is no trail and you have to find your way. It is a long sternuous trek that is considered difficult especially under summer sun. A special thanks to Gilbert Moukheiber (33 North) who guided this trek.
