Itinerary description
With a height of 3200 meters, it is the highest peak in Shiraz city
The starting point of the route is from Tang Khani parking lot in Siakh Darangun area, after crossing the Qaraghaj river bridge and just before Darangun village cemetery, on the left side, enter the dirt road which is about 2.5 km towards Tange Khani to the parking lot (of course, the first parking lot The last parking lot where we parked is about a kilometer away.)
Koh Delo is located 37 kilometers south of Shiraz and is not far from Shiraz.
Despite this, Shirazis do not know much about this mountain. In Shiraz, Sepidan region (Ardakan, Fars), it is famous as Yilaq, but few people know Koh Delo, despite its proximity to the road and its unique nature.
Aquarius Mountain is the last southern branch of the Zagros Mountains; That is, the Zagros mountains end with this mountain. Koh Delo is the highest peak in the south of Shiraz with an altitude of about 3200 meters, it has an area of about 17 thousand hectares and it is the beginning of a mountain region known as the Red Mountain.
Before, it was thought that the name "Aquarius" is Turkish and from the root "Deli" meaning "crazy" and the Turkish clans gave it this name and they meant the "rebellious" mountain.
This opinion was reflected in the book The Unknown: A Research in the Red Mountaineers of Fars (Nisher, 1366). Later, Mr. Iraj Afshar pointed out that, according to similar names such as "Dalaho" (Karand Gharb), the name "Aquarius" is Persian.
Dalahu, according to historical documents, is almost certainly a transformed (Balahuta) or ancient (Balahuta) mentioned by Shilhak-Inshushinak, the king of ancient Elam (around 1151-1165 BC). In the Elamite language, Hote only means a place. If we assume that Bala is used in the ancient Elamite language in its modern meaning, then Bala + the suffix Hote (Balahota) can be interpreted as a high place or a mountain, which It was a suitable name for Dalhousie.
The name of Kohmera has been recorded in historical texts since the Safavid period and apparently it was used for the first time in the newspaper Mullah Jalal Munjem, a contemporary of Shah Abbas I. This name refers to an area in the south of Shiraz city, which is limited to Firozabad from the east, Kazeroon from the west, and Shiraz from the north.
Kohmareh region is divided into three districts: Kohmareh Nodan, Kohmareh Jarouk and Kohmareh Surkhi.
Kohmera Sorkhi is a valley plain with an area of approximately 273 thousand hectares, which is located in the southeast of Kazeroon and southwest of Shiraz. The communication ways of this plain with the intermountain plain of Kazeroon are from the north-west side, the Arjan plain, and also from the south side, Tang Masqan. Qara Aghaj River is the most important river of this region that flows along this plain. The Maseram River also flows in Tang Musqan.
The geographical features of Kohmere Sorkhi region can be considered the presence of abundant water resources, dense vegetation of old and thick Zagros forests with various types of trees such as oak, baneh, mountain almond, kialk, kikem and arjan.
The fauna of the region is also diverse and according to local people, there is a possibility of presence of bears and even leopards in the areas of Kuh Delu, known as Kal Kolyon. There are many birds in this area, such as: woodpeckers, woodpeckers, and yellow warblers.
But in this area, due to its importance, no special archaeological investigation has been done in the Paleolithic area, and in this sense, this plain is one of the completely pristine areas in Fars province.
The red mountains of Kohmareh are full of springs and rivers and are considered one of the natural wonders of southern Iran and have a moderate and relatively cold climate.
