Itinerary description

The first part of this walk is through open country, giving you good views on the gorges and fanciful lines of the hillsides. The track is well signposted with the white/blue markings of the Ruta de las Fuentas and regularly with the wite/red markings of the GR.

When at a junction the track veers to the left, the descent into the gorge begins from 280 to 240 metres. Arriving at the bottom you will follow the Barranc de Frigolet if you want to follow the direct route of the Ruta de las Fuentas.

We decided first to go to the Mirador de Escalone which will give you a very nice view of a part of the Escalone reservoir and the surrounding country side.

There we saw a narrow track that we followed for quite a while in the hope it would take us down the mountainside but it really proved to be a dead end so we circled back to the Mirador de Escalone and went back to the bottom of the gorge.

This part of the walk is really beautiful and as the gorge widens the views of the steep mountainside to the right become spectacular.

There is another Mirador with a stone bench which is a very nice place to sit and watch and enjoy the surrounding view.

After this the track goes further down to 160 metres to the reservoir. Here the views also are breathtaking.

Then the track goes back in the direction of Quesa but it makes one more diversion to a very pretty waterfall, the Salto del Molino, for which you once more have to descend again. The track then follows the small stream and a canal until the last ascent to Quesa.

Really good trail. I skipped the 2.5Km loop to go to the Mirador but it was awesome anyway
