Itinerary description
I followed Rubioser’s trail and had a great day. Some parts of the original one have been closed so I had to figure some work arounds. Keep in mind the following:
- Cat Cat is not worth it, if you find the way to skip it and get exactly where the village ends it’d be the best.
- That’s exactly where the beautiful scenarios begin until Lao Chai.
- From Lao Chai to Ta Van it’s mñeh.
- After Ta Van you’ll get to the Bamboo Forest which is gorgeous. Sadly, about 1/4 of it has been recently burned down and the map doesn’t show it yet.
- The waterfall just had a little stream and it’s all piped by the locals, also some random constructions have been done on it. I wouldn’t say it’s beautiful at all.
- To be honest, after Lao Chai only the Bamboo Forest is worth it, but I heard there’s one just outside Sa Pa and that it connects you to this trail after Cat Cat. If you find the way to do it go for it and get back to Sa Pa by bike or taxi.
- I recommend going back by bike or taxi. From Ta Van or the waterfall it’s 100k dong.
