Itinerary description
The track starts close to the DeSpar supermarket in Sagres. There is parking space available in this area.
We start walking west over the main road in the direction of Cabo de San Vicente. We pass the centre and will see the Fortaleza de Sagres on our left side. We do not enter and leave all the tourists behind us.... After about 1,5 km we leave the main road and we start following a track indicated with green/blue marks.
We now have a very scenic walk over the cliffs where every now and than we can enjoy beautiful panoramas. Also the vegetation is very interesting. We will see the typical vegetation close to the sea where the wind is ever present. After almost 5 km we will reach Praia do Beliche. From here we continue land inwards and enter the Parque Natural da Costa Vicentina e Sudoeste Alentejano. This is a bird watching area. The landscape becomes completely different now. We walk on sandy soil dotted with pines. Little by little this becomes a pine forest. After some 7 km we reach Cabranosa. This is the highest point in the area and so we have a view over Sagres. We then continue our walk through the forest and after a while we see the Parque the Campismo de Sagres on our right hand. We walk back in Sagres over the rua do Poço and than Rua Dom Sebastião.
The track is in general quite easy. Sturdy shoes are required.
