Circular walk from Saint-Nectaire-le-Haut around the Puy d'Éraigne with nice views on the village, its surroundings and the snowy peaks of the Massif du Sancy.
This route starts at the parking lot near the Caves "Les Grottes de Cornadore". We cross the main road and take the Chemin du Say. Right after the bridge you will see at your left hand side a little creek: this water has a temperature of around 30 degrees centigrade. At waypoint "Cornadore" we follow the Chemin du Say and after some 250 meters we pass the origin of this creek: the salty marshlands (waypoint "Le Marais Salé").
After crossing the D150 we take the path that leads us around the Puy d'Éraigne. It goes first 100 m. up to some 800 metres after which it goes down to a very small village (see waypoint "Les Granges"). In this village we take the first unhardened path at the right which brings us up again to some kind of meadow from which we have a beautiful view on the mountains of the Massif du Sancy (waypoint "viewpoint").
The route returns to Saint Nectaire via the crossing of paths "Les Couverts" and "Cornadore" (see waypoints with corresponding names)
There are many nice hiking routes in this area. A good "base camp" for a multi-day stay is the Chambre d'hôtes "Villa Saint Hubert" in Saint Nectaire (run by my sister)
