Itinerary description
Imagine you want to visit the highest waterfall in the Caribbean but nobody knows about it - welcome to Salto de la Jalda.
The trail is easily doable without much change in elevation, it's just sometimes hard to find.
I started my walk in at the carreterra Miches - Sabana de la Mar, where you are following a dirt road for 4 kilometers. You can also skip this part and do it with a SUV or a motorbike. From kilometer 4 in the track you have to choice - go to the most direct way along a river a cocoa plantations and arrive at the stunning waterfall with its natural pools after around kilometer.
Alternatively you can take the way I took (accidentally) and climb the surrounding mountains for marvellous view - kilometers 4 to 13 in the track. However after kilometer 12 the track is really hard to find and I nearly gave up.
With Salto de la Jalda being a real natural beauty I am happy I made it.

Please ignore the total elevation change in altitude (1313m/1318m) - I think Runtastic is not tracking it correctly.
Between kilometer 21 and 22 around 500 meters are missing in the track because I had the GPS turned off.

Muchisimas gracias por detallar tan bien la ruta. Me he descargado tu ruta y espero hacerla en mi viaje a la Rep. Dominicana en mayo. Quiero hacer tu misma ruta solo que invirtiendo el orden. Ir por el camino más directo y volviendo luego por la montaña. Pero me gustaría saber si desde el salto es fácil encontrar la pista entre los Kms. 13 y 12. No sé si lo habrás hecho con un guía, ¿cómo lo ves para hacerlo en solitario?
