Itinerary description
This is a circular tour from San Bartolome de Tirajana to Cruz Grande. I did it in anti-clockwise fashion and feel that is the best way to do it since the start of the track is soon reached from the village.
On the way out of the village you pass the cemetery, with a fine chapel, and then pick up a paved path which climbs up to Cruz Grande, though it falttens out in places. It passes through pine forest and i noticed an absence of shrubs and flowers.
It took me about 1 3/4 hour to reach Cruz Grande where there are marvellous views and an interpretation panel.
The return leg started on a rough dirt road which meant easy going and was very pleasant, at least to begin with. After 30 minutes or so, it began to get boring as the road just wound on round the mountain and I had no sense of how far I'd come or had to go.
Eventually, it met a track off to the left leading down back to San Bartolome. On this track there were lots of shrubs and some flowers.
Eventually, it came to a paved road and then there as a lot of walking before reaching San Bartolome where it met up with the outward track.
I parked in the car-park in the village near the church - there seemed to be ample parking here.
