Itinerary description
This track provides a very nice impression of all the different landscapes in this typical part of Catalonia. The hike includes the little town of Santa Maria de Palautordera, passes through meadows, crosses some different types of forest and includes also an old castle.
The track starts at a parking place close to the Parc de Pau Casals. From here we start to walk between the plane trees over the Passeig del Remei. After just a few 100 meters we will get at the Ermita del Remei. There is a tap with drinking water at the side of the church. From here we continue briefly along the Tordera Creek and we will reach the Església de Sant Esteve de Palautordera. After another 2 km through the outskirts of Sant Esteve de Palautordera we will reach an area of meadows. Every now and than there will be small dots of forest. We will also pass along the artificial lake Bassa de Vallmanya.
After about 7 km we will get another time at the Tordera Creek. This time we will cross the small creek. Since there is no bridge we will have to take our shoes out. The water is not deep. Now the landscape changes. We will walk rather steep uphill in a very nice Eucalyptus forest. At occasions there will be scenic views. This is the only part of the track that is a bit more difficult. After about 500 meters (7,5 km from the beginning - clockwise) we will reach the ruins of the Castell de Montclús. From here on we continue uphill through the forest and we will reach the Ermita de Santa Magdalena.
At his point we have reached the top and the walk back to Santa Maria de Palautordera is going to be downhill and very easy. We will now cross the center of the town and visit the Plaça de la Vila and the Plaça Major before heading back to our parking place.

Is OK route , it is now quite difficult at the head of the quarry/valley before the Castle, through the trees due to landslip and wash out , care is required here
