Itinerary description
The walk links Sayalonga and Corumbela. We start the walk with a descent to the sub-tropical orchards of Sayalonga's terraced river valley, passing the round cemetery which Sayalonga is famous for.
Most of the walk is on good tracks with a few short stretches of asphalt in the villages. Lunch will be in a picnic ground below the village of Corumbela.
It is a fairly steep climb to Corumbela and there is also a steep climb of about the last 15 minutes to Sayalong. We also have to cross the Rio de Algarrobo y Sayalonga normally this is only a few inches deep so please come prepared. On the recce we were able to make a path with some big stones.
On an clear day there are excellent views of the Mediterranean, the Sierra de Tejeda and, with luck, it's highest point La Maroma [2069m] and Competa. Although there are some steep parts we will take our time, and is well within the capabilities of all B walkers.
After the walk we will have a choice of bars in the village to have our well deserved drink.
Points of Interest –The historical origins of Sayalonga are not clear cut, the founding of the area has been attributed to the Moors, simply because no remains from earlier civilizations have been found; however, the name Saya-longa is definitely Latin, with Roman roots, meaning "long tunic

Great route, river not a problem/nonexistent. As usual couple of dogs to be cautious about. Can avoid some of the main road at Curumbela using parallel minor road above.
