Itinerary description
Note- This section was only 14km. GPS failure increased the distance recorded.
Day four of the 47km Scenic Rim Trail, takes you from Banshee Camp to Cunningham's Gap. This 14km section was one of my favourites. Initially, you hike along the southern side of the range, up and down a narrow path through the rainforest. Whilst this area is very slippery and undulating, its not too difficult to negotiate. 7km after leaving camp, you reach the escarpment and very shortly there after you are scrambling up to the top of Bare Rock. This is a wonderful spot to gaze out, both sides of the range and take in the beautiful countryside below. From here, it's an easy trek to Mt Cordeaux where you'll be checking out the views, including Mt Mitchell and many other peaks of the Scenic Rim. The last 5km, to the car park, is all down hill which is just perfect after 4 days on the trail. For further information, check out our Facebook Hiking Page- "Take A Hike- Qld".
