Itinerary description
Amazing and diverse trail through the south of Seiland Island.
We started right at the back of the Seiland House, where you can find the beggining of the trail right next to the sauna and jacuzzi.
From here the trail goes up through a birch forest, crossed by several pure water creeks, so no need to take water with you cause you can always drink from the stream.
As we continue up the trees begin to be more scarce and give place to a mix of low shrubs, lichens and mosses. All along the way you have superb views first to the Kufjorden and the majestic peaks rising on the other side of the fjord and then to the Rognsund, Stjernøya and Sørøya islands and the mainland.
Further up the path we get to an alongated plateau with little more than barren rock where we can find the peak Altnesfjellet. To the north we can see the massive montain Seilandstuva highest peak on the island and further to the east the white landscape of the big glacier Seilandsjøkelen and the rivers and lakes coming down from it.
We stayed a while in the peak enjoying the sun and the views and then turned southeast following the valley of a small stream on his way down to the sea.
