Itinerary description

There is a good parking place next to the beach coming from the roundabout of the A-7 at Bahia de Casares.

The walk starts on a well laid out promenade that at first leads you to the 16th century Torre de la Sal, situated on Punta del Salto de la Mora, which will give you a nice view towards Punta Chullera, while to the north east you will see the goal of this walk: Bahia de Estepona.

The track will not remain a promenade but will be interrupted by stretches of sandy beach and if you choose to remain on the beach, as we did, you will also have to scramble a little across the rocks to get back to a stretch of beach again.

There are quite a few small and bigger rock formations in the water on which we saw groups of cormarants.

Coming to the end of a residential area in the Bahia Estepona, called Bahia Azul, we took to the road for our way back and after this residential area we followed a short narrow track that took us to the A-7.

Shortly after the bridge for pedestrians across the A-7 we followed the Calle de Torremolinos to get back to the coastal path again, (Senda Litoral) signposted white-red, and followed it back to Casares Costa.

Surprisingly this coastal path also leads you for 1.5 kilometres along the A-7. We hope that something will be done about this in the near future.

Having passed the hotel Fuerte Estepona we could return to the track close to the beach and at the end of this walk there are two bar/restaurants that you can choose from to have something to drink or eat: the Finca Cortesin Beach Club and shortly after La Sal Chiringuito
