Sendero Arroyo de La Ventilla – Puente la Ventilla, Arriate
This walk starts on the outskirts of Arriate (15 minutes from Ronda), where there is a car park on calle Erillas.
The initial Sendero is only 3km long and lasts about 40 minutes. I extended the route all the way down to the bridge - Puente La Ventilla and crossed over the stream (a very small trickle) to the otherside of the embankment for part of the return journey.
Then crossing over a wooden bridge I climbed up to the bird observation hide, where views of the gorge are really good. Along the walk you pass some fountains and information panels.
The return section now is through farmland (official route), but it was a bit smelly as there are three farms around and at least one pig farm).
The gorge and stream was really lovely, and there is a lot of shade once in the gorge. There are some narrow sections, so you have to be careful as there can be a drop of several metres. I would recommend good walking boots and one walking pole at least.
There are more paths in the area and I will definitely come back and make some improvements to the official route.
All in all it was well worth the visit. This was a stop off on the way to Grazalema.
