Itinerary description
18 11 2019
Category: Country Walk
Meeting Place: Band Stand just outside Gaucín on the road to Ronda
Distance: 6 km
Grading: Easy
Itinerary:
This is one of the flatter walks around Gaucín and a great introduction to the area. There are lovely views of Gaucín and Gibraltar on the first section and views across the valley to Cortes de la Frontera on the final section. Part of the walk is shady.
This fairly short country walk allows participants the opportunity to take in the spectacular colours of autumn with the route passing through an area with a lot of trees many of which are chestnut.
Altthough Gaucín is a little further to reach than usual, the shorter, fairly easy walk of about 2 hours will enable everyone to get back home in time.
Directions to the meeting place
Take the A7 or the AP7 from Marbella towards Estepona. Past Estepona take the A377 to Casares and further to Gaucín. Near Gaucín follow the road signs to Ronda on the A369. After driving a few km's around the village of Gaucín there is a Band Stand on the left hand side and a bit further the Mirador de Gaucín on the right hand side. There is enough parking area nearby. This is the start of the walk.

Moderate
A delightful walk, not too strenuous. The access path is much improved since we last did this walk. Direction posts are very good but having Wikilocs gives more confidence in the route. The final section is a narrow path with a steep drop to the side, not ideal for those of a vertiginous tendency.
