Sendero del Conde
This is one of my favourite walks. It starts from Puerto de los Pescadores.
It can be done more or less anytime of the year. It is on the north side of the Sierra de Mijas, on the outskirts of Alhaurin el Grande.
This walk has about 90 – 95 % shade. It is also suitable for dogs.
I have done this route in all seasons and I have never come across processionary caterpillars.
You get some lovely panoramic views from the fire break. There are 2 small climbs of about 10 minutes each. The first one going up the arroyo el Tejar, and the other one going through the forest to get to the top path. (There is an option here to use the service road to la Bola to get to this path, but the forest route is much nicer).
There is off road parking opposite the Mijas 10Km sign on the A387, 200m just past the BP petrol station.
La Ventilla restaurant at the petrol station is ideal for drinks and a bite to eat after the walk.

We keep meaning to thank you for all your walks. We are members of a walking club in Fuengirola and after lockdown they kept 6 of us sane and able to get out walking again with your walks in the Mijas area. Keep them coming, they are much appreciated!
Hi Dorris
Thanks for your message and support.
I might ease off a little for the summer, but I've got some good walks lined up for the Autumn.
Regards Tony

Lovely track! It is difficult now because the cut down of the Forrest after the fire. You are advised not to enter. It would be nice if some could advise when the road is open again
